I am Khorii Hunter Tinson (she/her), roots from Atlanta, Georgia, currently located in Tallahassee, Florida. I will receive my Master’s of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida State University in May of 2026. I have my Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Choreography from The University of Texas at Austin, conferred May of 2020. During my time at FSU and UT, I worked with and performed in pieces by Rennie Harris, Jawole Zollar, Baye and Asa, Gesel Mason, Charles O. Anderson, Jenn Freeman, Courtney Mazeika, and many others.
My most recent choreography and performance credits come from my MFA Thesis “D.R.O.N.E.”, which premiered March 6 and 7th at Florida State University. “D.R.O.N.E.” showcased a likeminded group of individuals rooted in resistance to oppression with hope for a future that values practices of social justice and the importance of liberation. My work that led up to “D.R.O.N.E.”, “Ghetto Birds”, premiered at The 2025 ACDA Southeast Regionals Conference in March in Charleston, SC, as well as the Nationals Conference in Washington, DC in May 2025.
I believe in using dance as an archive for history, through the body. I have always created work that is bigger than myself, whether it be about societal issues or politics. I aim to challenge myself, those I’m working with, and the audience about the parts we play in this world. Social justice, history, and identity are common themes throughout my work. Using a mix of House and Contemporary, my style is highly athletic and dynamic, and a testament to using my body as a means of resistance. As an artist, I am committed to speaking up for those who cannot, and believe in freedom and liberation for all. Nobody is free to move, until everybody is free to move.
